The Irish Bioeconomy Foundation is looking for
1 UPSTREAM PROCESSING (FERMENTATION) ENGINEER /UPSTREAM PRODUCT MANAGER-(*YFEJ 6.0)

Duties to be performed:
The candidate is experienced (up to 2 years) Upstream Processing (USP) Engineer/Upstream Product Manager with an in-depth knowledge of fermentation and biocatalysis technologies at(pre-) commercial scale. The candidate will be define and optimise on behalf of IBF and/or its clients the overall process from feedstock intake to the production of the final products for a number of biopreocesses yet to be validated and/or to be optimised based on project needs

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver scale up of pilot process & fermentation to industrial scale. Deliver accurate, relevant and interpretable process data. Development/optimisation of a cost effective biorefining process. Technical project management, project risk assessments in delivery of industrial process. Compilation of project updates and presentation of progress on a regular basis. Provide input into CAPEX budgets and OPEX finances. Proactively identify and deliver process optimisations opportunities. Keep tecnically abreast of relevant developments in the field to identify new opportunities

Specific technical competences:
Microbial fermentation, biorefining and optimisation. Enzymology. Fermentation technology. Experience of Batch or continuous processing. Pilot and commercial scale separation technologies, centrifugation, filtration,evaporation & distillation, chromatography, liquid-liquid extraction. Analytical techniques including, HPLC, MS,wet chemistry techniques, nutrient analysis. Generation of processing mass balance, process data analysis and interpretation. Ability to execute pre-commercial manufacturing processes according to established work instructions and co-developed Standard Operating Procedures. Knowledge of English level B2/C. Higher training including Academic.

Specific soft skills:
Report writing with commercial under standing. Results driven, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, escalate issues as appropriate. Hands on approach and inclination to provide assistance and/or support maintenance, engineering, quality or other colleagues. Maintain a high level of personal expertise and working knowledge of all aspects of the manufacturing process and process equipment through continuous training and development. Liaise with other groups and individuals to ensure planning of tasks is effective and linked into the manufacturing process plan.Ability to manage client relationships successfully.

Conditions:
Temporary Contract of 3 years, Wage Min.
Euro 45.00 Max65.00 gross/year (depends on the experienced).
