The European Gravitational Observatory (EGO) seeks an experienced person for the Direction Department. EGO is a French-Italian consortium founded by INFN and CNRS to foster European collaboration in gravitational wave research. EGO is located in Cascina, near Pisa, Italy and hosts the Virgo gravitational wave detector, Virgo, a 3 km-long laser interferometer. The project involves a collaboration with more than 400 scientists, engineers and technicians from France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and Spain.

Assignment

The selected candidate will:

• Represent the consortium for the press announcements and other media;
• Prepare any documents necessary for the communication of EGO activities
• Work towards the increase of the financial support of outreach, engagement and training activities of EGO

In view of the above responsibilities, she/he will have to interact and synchronize with the Outreach responsibles of EGO and Virgo on actions of outreach, citizen science and training and in particular will have the responsibility of the organization of the visits to the EGO/Virgo site. Given the large number of EU programs in EGO, she/he will also to interact closely with the EU programs responsible. She/He finally works closely with, and reports to, the EGO Director, ensuring that EGO operates according to the law, internal rules and within the approved budget.
